The secret behind Man United’s bizarre transfer policy

We've cracked it...

Some people have been taken aback by Manchester United’s £36m approach for Anthony Martial, but now it’s all starting to make sense.

United have also been offered Spurs striker Emmanuel Adebayor as they look to find a more prolific option than last season’s loan flop Falcao.

So, what’s the connection between the trio? It’s simple, really – Louis van Gaal doesn’t like strikers unless they’ve played up front for Monaco.

If Adebayor doesn’t end up at Old Trafford – and let’s face it, it seems unlikely they’d want him – then where else could they turn?

Former Arsenal flop Park Chu-Young top-scored for Monaco back in 2011, so he could be an option? How about a return for ex-United frontman Dimitar Berbatov?

Ah, who are we kidding? We all know it’s perfectly set up for Thierry Henry to come out of retirement and lead the Red Devils back to glory.
