Calculating the true value of a football player can be complex and something many managers have struggled with over the years.

Fortunately, a Swiss company claims to have come up with a method of establishing a player's worth in financial terms and produced a list of the Premier League's top 20 most valuable players. Produced by CIES Football Observatory, the list considers the age, ability and marketability of a player as well as the length of their contract. Here are the 20 most valuable players in the Premier League. You may be surprised at some of the names... 20. Santi Carzola, Arsenal - £31.73m

19. Nemanja Matic, Chelsea - £33.6m

18. Willian, Chelsea - £33.98m

17. Oscar, Chelsea - £34.2m
