Sunderland fans have raised around £1,700 to buy a ‘thank you’ bouquet for Dick Advocaat’s wife after she gave her blessing to the Dutchman returning as manager.

Advocaat’s previous retirement plans were partly due to a request from his wife, who is now happy for the 67-year-old coach to stay on at the Stadium of Light.

during the Barclays Premier League match between Arsenal and Sunderland at Emirates Stadium on May 20, 2015 in London, England.

According to the Sunderland Echo, any money not spent on flowers will be split between club-backed charity The SAFC Foundation and a second charity of Mrs Advocaat’s choosing.

After seeing the likes of Jozy Altidore, El-Hadji Ba and David Moberg Karlsson arrive at on Wearside, Sunderland’s fans seem better at spending money than the club’s board.
