“You’ve got to commit.”
Steve McClaren suggested that Manchester United players must improve their “body language” ahead of next season.
The new Red Devils’ assistant manager highlighted what was missing at Old Trafford last season as they finished in sixth place in the Premier League.
Steve McClaren discusses Man United players
McClaren claimed that Man United players need to be ready to give everything during training and matches under Erik ten Hag.
The Man United assistant referenced the players’ body language during the 2020/21 Premier League campaign as an aspect that needs to improve next season.
“You have to be ready, have to be ready to train, you have to be ready to play, ready to impact as a sub, you have to react,” McClaren said on the latest edition of the McClaren Performance Podcast.
“A lot of people now, body language, arms up in the air, you’ve got to react to get that ball back, win that ball back. Whatever situation, react quick, don’t think about it.
“You’ve got to accept the rules, the conditions, you’ve got to accept the consequences if you do things wrong. You’ve got to commit, you’ve got to be a class act, especially in today’s football.”
McClaren highlights the importance of training
Under Ralf Rangnick’s management, United only won three of their final 12 fixtures, which saw Man United record their worst points tally in a Premier League season.
Man United’s first game of the Premier League season is against Brighton at Old Trafford on August 7th, with a 2:00 pm kickoff.
