Steve McClaren is poised to make a return to English football.

Having taken up a role as a coaching consultant with Maccabi Tel Aviv in Israel (yeah, we didn't know either), it's now being reported that he's quit this job to "pursue other options". "It's with much regret I have to return to England and leave my role at Maccabi Tel Aviv," McClaren explained. What exactly those "other options" are remains unclear at this stage, although plenty of people seem to have worked out where the former England boss might be about to pop up. Following the Christmas Eve departure of Carlos Carvalhal, some are tipping McClaren to take charge at Sheffield Wednesday. Wednesday are currently 14th in the Championship, despite reaching the playoffs at the end of last season.
