Southampton release new kit with hilarious mockumentary video

Simon Lloyd

Featuring plenty of Fyre Festival references

Congratulations, Southampton Football Club.

Though the football season hasn’t officially ended yet, we can safely say that no other club in world football will come close to beating your latest kit launch efforts. At least not this summer, anyway.

A couple of years on from a particularly memorable computer-generated effort, Southampton’s latest kit release has taken on the form of a hilarious mockumentary, which clearly pokes fun at Netflix’s FYRE Festival documentary from earlier in the year.

The video below shows exactly how the launch of their 2019/2020 Under Armour kits could have gone had an exuberant entrepreneur’s wishes come true. It follows the adventure of Mbilly McFarmer as he looks to create the first ever football kit launch on an exotic island in the Solent as part of ‘Saynts Festival’.

The video features cameos from the likes of Danny Ings and Nathan Redmond. Academy graduate Yan Valery and Southampton Women’s captain Shelly Provan also make appearances.

Whether you’re a Southampton fan or not, it’s worth a watch…

As for the kits, the new home, away and goalkeeper kits will be available to buy in store from 8am on Friday June 28 and will be available to preorder online from the Monday May 20.
