This was highlighted on TV coverage of the game

Sergio Aguero was involved in an altercation at the end of Manchester City’s defeat to Wigan Athletic on Monday night.

The League One side recorded a 1-0 win over City to set-up an FA Cup quarter-final tie with Southampton thanks to Will Grigg’s goal in the second half.

Substitute Kyle Walker let a ball run past him, thinking it was covered, but Grigg was waiting on the shoulder of the City defender. The Northern Ireland striker took a touch, steadied himself and put it past Claudio Bravo in the City goal.

Wigan fans began signing the Will Grigg song, City’s players stood around looking stunned and couldn’t find the goal needed to take the tie to a replay.

The result will go down as one of the biggest cup upsets we’ve seen in recent years, even more of a surprise than when Wigan, then a Premier League side, beat City in the 2013 final.

However, there were some unsavoury scenes at the final whistle. Following a pitch invasion at the stadium, Sergio Aguero was involved in an altercation with a Wigan supporter.

The BBC highlighted the incident on their coverage.

Aguero was then escorted from the pitch by City staff.
