Sebastian Haller was diagnosed with a testicular tumour

Sebastian Haller has responded for the first time since he was forced to leave Borussia Dortmund’s training camp after discovering a testicular tumour.

Haller, who recently joined Dortmund from Ajax, was training with the team in Switzerland on Monday when he complained that he felt unwell.

After undergoing medical examinations, medical staff discovered a tumour in his testicle.

The forward has since left the training camp and returned to Dortmund to undergo further tests.

A statement from the club said: “Sebastien Haller had to leave the #BVB training camp in Bad Ragaz due to illness and has already traveled back to Dortmund.

“During examinations, a testicular tumour was discovered.”

Haller thanks fans for their support

Haller has since spoken for the first time since his tumour was discovered and has thanked supporters for the messages wishing him well.

“I want to thank you again from the bottom of my heart for all these many warm messages received,” he said in a tweet.

“I was very moved to see these beautiful reactions and I even feel like I don’t deserve so much.

“But I know that thanks to you it will only be one more test on our way.  See you very soon in the ground to celebrate our next victories.”

He then added: “Thank you all for your many messages of support and affection since yesterday’s announcement. My family and I thank you. I will now focus on my recovery to come back stronger.”

Haller joined from Ajax this summer

The 31-year-old joined Dortmund off the back of a 34-goal season for Ajax, in which he scored 11 times in the Champions League for the Dutch side.

His arrival followed after the departure of Erling Haaland to Manchester City earlier this summer.
