Wrexham and Chelsea, a proper cup tie under the North Wales lights, had it all. Comebacks, controversy and a red card, though not for The Blues this time.
With the Red Dragons taking the lead, not once, but twice, they were then instantly nullified by Liam Rosenior's resilient Blues on both occasions.
With the game inevitably heading to extra-time at 2-2 though, the tie instantly turned in its balance after a controversial red card decision from referee Peter Banks.
With Alejandro Garnacho darting down the wing at pace, he was met by a 'reckless' challenge from Wrexham's George Dobson.
At first glance, Banks brandished the yellow, though after a signal from the VAR room, he was then advised to go to the monitor.
Inevitably next, the card was upgraded from a yellow to a red. Fans though, do not agree with the decision.
One supporter frustratedly responded to the tackle published on X: "Never a red. That’s everything wrong with modern football. Why are we taking physicality out of the game, it’s not basketball."
The legendary Wayne Rooney too disagreed with the decision, voicing his opinion on TNT Sports between full time and extra time.
The tackle can be viewed below:
With extra time looming on the 10-men, the disadvantage was naturally against the home side.
Garnacho took advantage with a brilliantly taken finish, evading the offside flag, and made it 3-2.
