It's not been a great start for English clubs in Europe.
And speaking on BT Sport, neither Paul Scholes nor Rio Ferdinand seemed particularly upbeat about the poor current form of Chelsea, Arsenal, Manchester United and City. Paul Scholes questioned whether the absolute world-class quality was there in our top sides...

Whereas Ferdinand pointed to a lack of depth, suggesting that options beyond first-team starters simply weren't good enough...
