Sadio Mané has broken his silence on the incident between him and Bayern Munich teammate Leroy Sané for the first time.

Mané lashed out at the German, punching him in the face, after losing 3-0 against Manchester City in April.

The former Liverpool man was subsequently fined £250,000 – the biggest fine in the club’s history – and was given a one-match ban.

Since the incident, Mané’s time at the Bundesliga champions hasn’t improved with the winger losing his place in Thomas Tuchel’s side towards the end of the season.

To cap off a miserable first year at Bayern, Mané was also named as the Bundesliga’s most disappointing player of the year.

Reflecting on the bust-up in his homeland of Senegal, Mané said: “This kind of things can happen. It happened. We were able to solve this small problem.

“Sometimes it’s good to solve problems, but maybe not in this way. It’s behind us now. We’ll try to fight together to help the club achieve its goals next season.

“I’m on vacation with the family. It was a very complicated season, it happens. It wasn’t a surprise, I expected things to be a bit complicated. It’s normal.

“I love challenges, and Bayern is a big challenge. It’s up to me to do everything to meet this challenge.”

After limping over the finish line to secure an 11th consecutive German title, BILD have reported that Mané is one of seven players that have been made available for transfer.

Sané, Serge Gnabry, Bouna Sarr, Alexander Nubel, Marcel Sabitzer and Benjamin Pavard all join the 31-year-old on the list, who has had interest from Saudi Arabia.

Despite Bayern seemingly willing to part ways with him just a year after signing, the Senegal captain seems keen to remain in Bavaria.

“God willing. If everything goes well, I’m going to return to Bayern,” he said.
