Roy Keane fearful of Gibraltar threat

Really, Roy?

During his time as Manchester United captain, nothing seemed to faze Roy Keane.

He didn’t back out of any challenge, and thrived on going up against the best opponents around.

But things seem to have changed since the 44-year-old moved into coaching.

The Ireland number two is wary of his country’s upcoming challenge: no, it’s not world champions Germany or even a tricky trip to Poland – it’s international minnows Gibraltar.

Ireland beat Gibraltar 7-0 at home, but Keane isn’t counting his chickens ahead of the trip to UEFA’s newest member nation.

“The biggest danger – you sometimes see it in English cup games – if you take your eye off the ball or underestimate somebody, then you are in trouble,” he said.

“Obviously we are hoping that other teams might slip up but, first and foremost, we have got to do our own jobs.”
