Wayne Rooney rifled home a stunning strike at Old Trafford that showcased everything that sets the Manchester United player apart - technique, touch and awesome power.

The befreckled marksman controlled a cross from Angel Di Maria with a delicate left-foot touch before turning on the edge of the area and belting the ball into the net with a thunderous right-foot shot. The gem of a goal helped United to a 3-1 victory, which takes them above local rivals Manchester City into third place in the league.
