Ronaldinho looks ready to end his career in MLS or China

Tom Victor

We’ve got some bad news for any Premier League fans hoping to witness Ronaldinho’s swansong on these shores.

The veteran Brazilian has been linked with a move to England on more than one occasion, but the 36-year-old’s brother and agent Roberto Assis appears to have ended any hope of the former Barcelona star ending his career in Europe.

Ronaldinho has not played since leaving Fluminense in his home country last year, but Assis name-checked Major League Soccer and the Chinese Super League as likely destinations for the playmaker.

Speaking to Brazilian outlet UOL, Assis ruled out a move within Brazil for his brother, while also playing down suggestions that he could join compatriot Adriano at fourth-tier American club Miami United.

If he does opt for a move to MLS, Ronaldinho could find himself up against former AC Milan team-mate Kaká, who is currently the league’s top-earner, and another former Milan star in Andrea Pirlo.

A move to China, meanwhile, would see the enigmatic player lock horns with fellow Brazilians including Ramires, Alex Teixeira and Paulinho.
