Romelu Lukaku missed team bus after Man United’s win at Southampton after struggling to provide drug test urine sample

He hasn't missed much this season, to be fair

Romelu Lukaku scored again on Saturday as Manchester United defeated Southampton by a single goal.

The Belgian has now scored eight times in as many appearances for this new club since his big money summer move from Everton and has made a confident start to life at Old Trafford.

He did, however, miss United’s team bus out of St Mary’s. As highlighted by the Daily Mail, the 24-year-old was asked to provide a urine sample for drug testing after the game. Possibly due to the warm conditions the game had been played in – something Jose Mourinho discussed in his press conference after the game – Lukaku struggled to produce a sample and was therefore forced to stay on at the stadium as his teammates departed.

“The weather was beautiful,” Mourinho said. “Even if you train at 11am, 12pm, 3pm in Manchester, we don’t get this weather.”

“Seriously. The last time we had this was in Los Angeles [on preseason tour] and then in Macedonia [for the Super Cup Final], and they felt it.”

Lukaku later joined up with the rest of the team after catching a taxi.

The win on the south coast keeps United on level on points with Manchester City at the top of the Premier League table, although Pep Guardiola’s side’s 5-0 victory at home to Crystal Palace means United’s goal difference is currently inferior to that of their rivals.
