Romelu Lukaku has revealed he is open to a move to Italy
Lukaku joined Manchester United from Everton in 2017 but told a reporter he “hoped” to play in the country at some point in the future.
“Why not? I hope it happens,” he told Gazzetta dello Sport when asked about the possibility of a switch to Serie A.
Lukaku, whose younger brother Jordan plies his trade in Rome with Lazio, is expected to lead United’s attack when they host Juventus in the Champions League next week and added that he was a great admirer of the Turin club.
“Juve have a great project in place and they just keep going. Every year they try to get stronger.
“Without doubt, Juve are one of the two or three best teams in Europe. They’ve got a great coach on the bench and extraordinary players in every area of the team.
“Cristiano Ronaldo stands out, but watch out for the others too. Paulo Dybala is already impressive and getting stronger, while I love Douglas Costa.”
The striker scored twice as Belgium beat Switzerland in Brussels over the weekend to move top of Group A2 in the Nations League. He is already his country’s all-time leading goal-scorer, his brace against the Swiss moving him 15 clear of Paul Van Himst and Bernard Voorhoof who both have 30.
