It was a night to forget for Robin van Persie.
The former Manchester United and Arsenal striker has had a nightmare season which reached its lowest point during the Netherlands' Euro 2016 qualifier against the Czech Republic. At 2-0 down, the Dutch needed a win to put some pressure on Turkey for third spot in Group A and the manager decided to bring on impact sub RVP. Well, he certainly made an impact by sealing his country's fate by scoring an own-goal so awful, it was actually quite impressive. RVP's headed effort made it 3-0 to a 10-man Czech side on the night and meant that the Netherlands failed to qualify for Euro 2016.Explore more on these topics:
