Is Lewandowski’s time at Bayern up?

Robert Lewandowski has told Bayern Munich that he wants to leave the club, and has eyed up a move to Spain as his next destination.

Reports in Germany have claimed that Lewandowski has informed the club that he doesn’t wish to sign a new deal, with the German side reluctant to lose their goalscorer on a free transfer when his contract expires in 2023.

Bayern could be willing to part ways

According to BILDdespite their previous stance that the Poland international wouldn’t be sold, Bayern are now willing to listen to offers of around £30m, sparking the interest of Barcelona.

The 33-year-old has scored 49 goals this season, meaning he has surpassed the 40-goal mark for the seventh consecutive season, but given the striker’s age they are conscious that his value will depreciate with time.

Bayern also apparently feel that opposition sides are beginning to figure out their front line, with Lewandowski the centre of their goalscoring and creative exploits.

Despite now appearing to be open to the idea of moving the striker on, Bayern are also very much aware of the impact he has at the club and that any replacement would require significant investment.

Barcelona would have to sell to buy Lewandowski

Should Barcelona be successful with any pursuit, they would be adding one of the most prolific strikers in world football and add to their frightening attacking line-up which already boasts the likes of Ansu Fati, Ferran Torres and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

As with any signing that Barca attempt to make, a move such as this would require outgoings at the Camp Nou as the Catalan club try to restore some financial respect back to their name.
