Riyad Mahrez’ destination this summer looks to have been decided

He might just have got his long-awaited move

The transfer saga appears to have ended

Riyad Mahrez looks to finally be on the way out of the King Power stadium. The Algerian winger looked to be on the verge of a move to Manchester City in January, before Leicester City pulled the plug on a potential deal.

The 27-year-old enjoyed a stellar season with Leicester as they strode magnificently to an unlikely Premier League title in 2015/16, and while his form has dipped slightly in the subsequent seasons he has still scored 12 goals, assisted 11 and remains a wanted man.

While Pep Guardiola was desperate to secure the services of the former Le Havre earlier in the year, reports suggest that the deal will finally go through this summer and for the princely sum of £65 million.

Quite how Mahrez will fit into Pep’s side remains to be seen, perhaps he will stand on the shoulders of Leroy Sane, or carry Bernardo Silva in a little tote bag to and from the touchline, but history suggests that Pep will find a way to properly utilise him.

His potential signing also presents quite a terrifying proposition to literally all other sides in the Premier League, as Manchester City appear set to simply keep buying wonderful players to play alongside the wonderful players they already have.

There is good news for the Foxes however, with a report in the Daily Mail suggesting that current Celtic loanee Patrick Roberts will be a part of any deal taking Mahrez to the Etihad Stadium.
