Germaine de Randamie isn’t exactly a veteran in the sport of mixed martial arts.
With just six wins, three defeats and only four fights under the UFC banner, the Dutchwoman must be one of the least experienced fighters in history to ever fight for a world title.
But she knows the fight game.
An undefeated kickboxer, de Randamie’s striking credentials translated almost seamlessly to the Octagon and her consecutive knockouts of Larissa Pacheco and Anna Elmose earned her half the billing for the inaugural UFC women’s featherweight title fight this weekend.
De Randamie will share the mat with former bantamweight champ Holly Holm in the main event of UFC 208 on Saturday and the newest weight class in the UFC will have a new champion come Sunday morning.
But De Randamie is not concerned about the experience advantage that is enjoyed by ‘The Preacher’s Daughter’ and has hit out at those who question her credentials as she has directed fans to the fact that she once fought a man in a bout that went quite well for her.
“A lot of people don’t know my credentials in kickboxing,” de Randamie told MMAjunkie. “I’ve fought the best, the top of the top, the best female fighters in the world – in three weight divisions. I fought a man who had 40lbs over me, and I knocked him out.”
