Change is coming in Paris

It could be a summer of change in Paris once again with reports suggesting that Lionel Messi and Kylian Mbappé could both depart Paris Saint-Germain at the end of the season.

Despite boasting a star-studded squad PSG’s Champions League dream came to an end at the last 16 stage once again after they were beaten 3-0 by Bayern Munich on aggregate.

There’s now speculation that Wednesday could be Messi’s last Champions League games amid rumours of a move to the MLS or Saudi Arabia alongside the inevitable Barcelona links.

Mbappé has also been linked with a move away, with Real Madrid the most likely destination.

However according to AS, PSG may have no option but to sell the duo in order to keep in line with UEFA’s Financial Fair Play rules.

PSG were fined €55m – €45m of which was suspended – by the European governing body last summer and were warned that they could face further ramifications if they continued to break FFP.

The report adds that the club have accumulated costs of around €370m in the last year and will drastically need to reduce their wage bill and cut back on spending.

If they are unable to do that then they will be required to pay the rest of their fine or face further punishment, which could include expulsion from European competitions.
