A Premier League footballer has been issued with a fine of £15,000 after acting in an 'improper manner'.
Jhon Duran of Aston Villa was today charged by the Football Association for his behaviour in the top-flight clash against Newcastle United on Boxing Day.
The 21-year-old striker admitted he had acted in an improper manner following his sending off in the clash at St James' Park, in which he kicked a water bottle.
In a statement following the hearing, the Regulatory Commission explained the reasoning of the verdict:
"The Commission discussed the incident and noted that the water bottle was kicked in frustration with some ferocity causing it to travel a significant distance.
"The Commission noted that the fact that the bottle did not strike anybody appeared to be attributable to luck rather than judgement.
"The Commission noted that the incident happened in the aftermath of a controversial red card, whereby Match Officials were seemingly required to assess whether the actions of JD, in standing on an opponent, were intentional or otherwise."
