Premier League footballer arrested on suspicion of rape questioned by police amid new allegation

The player had been accused of raping two women

The player - who cannot be named for legal reasons - has been previously accused of raping two women in April 2021 and June 2022.

But as reported by The Sun, a third woman has now come forward and reported that she was sexually assaulted in Hertfordshire in February 2022.

They added that the unnamed player is under caution at a police station and has been questioned for hours over the new allegation.

Police visited his home in north London last year before he was held by police.

Since the allegations first emerged, the player hasn't been suspended by his club and remains a part of the first team squad.

After the initial arrest the player was then re-arrested on suspicion of two more allegations in April and June 2021 - however the second of those allegations were dropped by police.

Speaking in July of last year, a spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police said: "On 4 July, an allegation of rape of a woman in her 20s was reported to police. It was reported the alleged rape happened in June 2022.

"On 4 July, a 29-year-old man was arrested at an address in Barnet on suspicion of rape and taken into custody. While in custody, he was further arrested on suspicion of two incidents of rape that were alleged to have been committed in April and June of 2021 against a different woman in her 20s.

"No further action will be taken in relation to the offence in June 2021 but the investigation into the remaining offences is ongoing. The man was initially bailed until a date in August but his bail has since been extended to a date in early October.

He is set to answer police bail in July after being given an extension having previously been due to answer this month (March).
