Premier League confirm 10 new positive COVID-19 test results

The highest number of positive tests announced by the Premier League

The Premier League has announced ten players or staff members were positive for COVID-19 following their latest round of testing.

In total 1,595 players and club staff were tested between Monday 21 and Sunday 27 September. Though the number of positive tests represents only a small fraction of the overall total, this is the highest number of positive results announced by Premier League following a round of testing.

Over the past three weeks, only three or four positives had been announced after each round of testing.

The new figures include the three positive tests announced by West Ham last Tuesday, where David Moyes and two of his players had to leave the London Stadium prior to their Carabao Cup game with Hull City to begin to self-isolate.

‘No specific details as to Clubs or individuals will be provided by the League and results will be made public after each round of testing,’ the `Premier League’s statement said.
