On Wednesday, Sky Sports revealed that the executives of all 20 Premier League clubs had attended a lengthy four-hour meeting in London to discuss a number of aspects, including the Premier League calendar for next season.

Whilst no key votes occurred at the meeting, it is believed that the executives agreed on when exactly the season will be suspended in order to allow for the first ever winter World Cup - which is being held in Qatar - to take place.

The reason that the World Cup is taking from late-November to mid-December is due to Qatar's intense summer heat, with the competition also to be played in a reduced timescale of around 28 days.

Therefore, Premier League clubs have reportedly agreed that the final round of league fixtures will take place on November 12 and 13.

The players will then have a week to spend with their national side before the tournament begins on November 21 at the Al Bayt stadium in Al Khor, with the first match featuring the host country.

Once the competition ends on December 18, there will be a short period to allow players to return to their clubs before the Premier League season resumes on Boxing Day.
