People seem to think Roberto Firmino started celebrating Adam Lallana’s late miss

Hmmm... we're not so sure

JOE

To be fair to Roberto Firmino, we wouldn’t have blamed him too much if he *did* start to celebrate.

With the ball falling favourably to Adam Lallana, all he had to do was nudge it beyond Willy Caballero from all of eight yards to restore Liverpool’s lead.

He didn’t.

Instead, the England international fluffed his lines and the chance slipped away.

In the time since, a couple of tweets have pointed out Roberto Firmino’s reaction to this. Somewhat unfairly, in our opinion, they appear to suggest the Brazilian begins to celebrate as Lalana miscues his shot.

There’s footage of this doing the round on Twitter, but in showing you the clip, we’d get into trouble with the Premier League. As a result, here’s a few poor quality images we’ve taken from the footage to give you a sense of what happens.

As Lallana is poised to make (something resembling) contact with the ball, Firmino can be seen in the foreground.

The Brazilian appears to watch the chance slip away…

A split second later, he drops to his knees…

And slides out of shot…

Although this could’ve quite simply been a reaction of disbelief to a chance gone begging, many seem to think this was a knee slide of celebration.

We’re having none of it. If the bloke hadn’t been looking directly at Lallana at the time, it might be more believable.
