The loss to Spurs came eight days after United were beaten 3-2 at Brighton, a performance which was widely criticised. Although United appeared markedly improved in the first half on Monday, their failure to convert any of the chances they created came back to haunt them in the second half. With United trying to find a way back into the game, any faint hopes of a fightback were killed off when Moura broke away to score his second of the game to complete the scoring.
