Paul Ince claims Man United midfielder is “too weak” for the Premier League

Tom Victor

Paul Ince has pulled no punches in his criticism of “soft” Premier League players, suggesting Manchester United’s Ander Herrera is not suited to the English game.

Ince, who spent several years in the centre of United’s midfield and won two Premier League titles with the club, remains unconvinced by Herrera.

“I watched him play in Spain and he suits the Spanish game but I don’t think he suits Manchester United,” Ince told 888Poker.com.

“I thought it was a lot of money and when I first saw him he was small and looked quite weak,” he added.

Ince suggested Herrera is not the only United player not to belong in Louis van Gaal’s squad, saying Marouane Fellaini “is a very intelligent player but he’s at the wrong club”.

“For a player of that ability to come on for the last ten minutes in every game more or less just for long balls…I think he’s better than that and he deserves a chance,” he said.

“It’s also a sad indictment of United not creating enough chances when they have to throw him on and put balls into the box.”
