Paul Gascoigne names favourite player of all time in his best XI

Some interesting choices...

Simon Lloyd

Paul Gascoigne has named a formidable all-English XI when picking his greatest ever side on Sky Sports Fantasy Football.

Gazza made up the team from former teammates at club and international level, choosing several that represented his boyhood club, Newcastle United.

Opting for a 4-3-1-2 formation, David Seaman was named as goalkeeper, behind a back four of Gary Neville, Terry Butcher, Gary Mabbutt and Stuart Pearce.

In midfield, Gazza opts for Chris Waddle and John Barnes either side of Bryan Robson, leaving Peter Beardsley in the hole behind a lethal front two of Gary Lineker and Alan Shearer.

Providing justification for each of his selections, he explains that Bryan Robson is his all-time favourite player, and reveals that he has a special nickname for the former England captain.

“My favourite player of all time. I actually call him dog poo because he is everywhere,” he joked.
