Now it’s Mesut Ozil’s turn to be be linked with a return to his former club

Footballers returning to their former clubs is all the rage this summer.

Alvaro Morata is back at Real Madrid. Paul Pogba has returned to Manchester United. Mario Gotze to Borussia Dortmund. Even Titi Camara has moved back to Anfield... Ok, we made that last one up (as if any of you were actually about to go and google it). Now though, reports are also linking Mesut Ozil with a return to Real Madrid. The Times suggested that Arsenal are having a tough time trying to tie down Ozil (along with Alexis Sanchez) to a new contract at the Emirates. Perhaps picking up on this, SportBild, over in Ozil's native Germany have claimed that the playmaker would relish the opportunity to move back to the Bernabeu, three years on from leaving the Spanish capital. As well as that, they also reckon a move to Bayern Munich could be an option if he decides not to extend his deal in London. Convinced? No, neither are we. Especially considering the story contains absolutely nothing in the way of quotes. But still, let's not let a lack of quotes get in the way of a good transfer rumour, eh? The idea of Ozil being allowed to leave the club is a terrifying one.
