Noel Gallagher will be a studio guest for the Manchester Derby on Super Sunday

Sky Sports have confirmed he'll be joining the team at Old Trafford

Sky Sports have already given football fans up and down the land ample reason to park their arses on the couch and not move for a good chunk of Sunday.

For the first time in the history of the Premier League, they’ll be showing the Merseyside and Manchester derbies back-to-back.

The latter of those games sees high-flying Manchester City look to take a huge step towards Premier League glory (yeah, we know it’s only December), as they visit Old Trafford. Manchester United are currently second in the league but, despite their best start to a season since Sir Alex Ferguson’s time as manager, find themselves eight points behind their rivals heading into the weekend.

As part of their Super Sunday coverage, Sky Sports have now confirmed that they’ll be welcoming Noel Gallagher to their studio. The former Oasis member – one of City’s most famous supporters – will be offering his own thoughts and opinions on the game, which kicks off at 4:30.

City play their final Champions League game away to Shakhtar Donetsk on Wednesday night, having already secured their qualification for the competition’s last 16 stage. United also secured their safe passage to the knockout stages on Tuesday, coming from a goal down to defeat CSKA Moscow 2-1 at Old Trafford.
