Neymar may yet be open to a Man United move

Manchester United’s pursuit of Neymar might not be the pipe dream some have suggested, with reports from Spain indicating that the Brazilian forward would consider joining the English club.

It emerged last week that United had opened secret talks with the Barcelona player, though former Red Devils defender Rio Ferdinand has moved to pour cold water on the deal.

But Ferdinand might have been too quick to dismiss the rumours, with The Guardian reporting that the 23-year-old is keen to join a club of United’s stature.

The Old Trafford club may need to wait a while, though, with suggestions that Neymar is unlikely to leave Barcelona this summer.

Luis Enrique’s team cannot register any new players until 2016, making it impossible for them to replace the forward in this transfer window, and so a move next summer might be more likely.

Of course the noises coming from Spain may just be a calculated move from Neymar to get a new, improved deal in Catalunya, just like former Manchester United target Sergio Ramos before him.
