The Magpies are likely to be moving away from St James’ Park.
Newcastle United are planning to build a new super stadium on Leazes Park, as per Craig Hope of Mail Sport.
Soon to take plans to the Government in order for a sign-off, the new ground would mark the end of a 133-year stay at St James’ Park, with the project creating hundreds of jobs, whilst seriously benefitting the local economy.
It is understood that Downing Street are expected to give the club the green light, assisting them with the new developments where needed.
There will be no overlap with the current St James’, enabling the club to still play home games at the current ground – whilst the new arena is built.
Crucially, chairman of the club, Yasir Al-Rumayyan, is said to be fully behind the impending project, Mail Sport revealed.
Next steps include talks with local authorities and the Government before sign-off.
Stadium designs are seen to be spectacular, with a bubble-wrap-esque exterior and a parkland-style proposition, which would be similar to the iconic Wembley Way.
