New York City fans really had to play the long game with this banner to celebrate Frank Lampard’s debut game.
They waited. And waited. In fact they had to sit on this brilliant joke for 374 days before the former Chelsea star made his debut for MLS side.
But boy was it worth the wait. If there’s a better Anchorman-related football gag, we’ve not seen it.

Top drawer banner making. But it failed to inspire Lampard and his team-mates to the win, with NYC slumping to a 2-1 defeat to Montreal Impact.
The Chelsea legend said: “It was fantastic to run out on the pitch at Yankee Stadium with the fans showing a lot of support, I really enjoyed that moment obviously, but not perfect circumstances.”
