New hybrid sport combines American football with ten-pin bowling

Tom Victor

We’ve had our fair share of hybrid sports, from head-tennis to chess-boxing, but there’s always room for one more.

American entrepreneur Chris Hutt has invented a new sport, ‘fowling’, which combines elements of American football and ten-pin bowling.

We think the name needs a bit of work, but there’s definitely potential.

It works more or less as you’d expect, combining the ball from American football with the pins from bowling.

The team sport sees players attempt to knock down their opponents’ 10 pins, though they can also win by knocking down the front pin only.

So far, just 29 strikes have been thrown in more than 100,000 games, but we’re not sure if that’s because the game is difficult or because those taking part are only just learning the ropes.

Maybe it’s time to start getting the lads from The Big Lebowski involved.
