Reports that Louis van Gaal is interested in Thomas Muller have not seemed to go away this summer.
Now, if the back page of the Sunday Express is to be believed, they’re about to intensify.
The German is seemingly keen to be reunited with former teammate Bastian Schweinsteiger at United who, despite winning their opening two fixtures in the Premier League, appear to be a little lacking in the forward department.
Louis van Gaal is refusing to give up in his pursuit of Muller, who knows the Dutchman well from his time as manager of Bayern Munich. Having given Muller his first opportunities for Bayern, it is thought that playing for Van Gaal again in Manchester may be an attractive one.
Many Manchester United supporters will take such a report with a pinch of salt. It wouldn’t be the first time this summer that a big name has been strongly linked with them as a means of engineering a nice new contract at their current club.
