Mourinho’s Community Shield medal was caught by a 10-year-old Arsenal fan

Those medalling kids...

It must be great being a 10-year-old football fan. You can enjoy your own team’s success without the cynicism that comes with years of following the sport.

That’s what allowed young Arsenal supporter Bobby Gill to thoroughly enjoy the moment when he caught Jose Mourinho’s Community Shield losers’ medal.

The Chelsea boss threw the consolation prize up into the crowd after spurning a handshake with Arsene Wenger, and Bobby, who had come down to the Wembley from Coventry, caught it.

“I just couldn’t believe it,” said Bobby, who called it the “bestest memory every”.

“I knew that he was giving it to me because he didn’t want a loser’s medal,” he told the Coventry Telegraph.

“He just wants to win, it was obvious he felt he didn’t want it any more. I thought it was quite a good thing what he did.”
