Money continues to fly in for Conor McGregor win as fight looks set to eclipse Super Bowl betting

Conor McGregor finds himself at the shortest odds yet since his boxing match with Floyd Mayweather was first announced.

'The Notorious' now stands at 4/1 to defeat Floyd Mayweather Jr. for the first time in his long, storied boxing career. Mayweather remains the heavy favourite [1/5] but McGregor had been as far out as 8/1 when the August 26 bout was first confirmed. The Mayweather vs. McGregor world tour has, no doubt, convinced many punters that the UFC lightweight champion has a fighting chance of pulling off one of the greatest upsets in recent years. At one stage, in Toronto, McGregor declared:

"To all the little, puny boxing pundits, you're fucking crazy if you think this guy has a chance. His head is too little!"

Mayweather or McGregor, the bets are piling on. Sports book manager Kevin Bradley has told Kevin Iole of Yahoo Sports that betting on the bout is set to bypass the amount usually placed on the Super Bowl. The NFL showcase finalé is normally the biggest betting market of each year but Mayweather vs. McGregor is tracking to beat it all ends up. In football-mad America, that is huge. Bradley commented:

"We knew this fight would be big, potentially even bigger than the Super Bowl, but now we are almost certain it will be. "The recent trash talking and promotional tour is only encouraging bets and at this rate we cannot even imagine how much we will take on it. One thing is for sure though, we will need Mayweather huge. "A McGregor early round KO as he promised would be a potential disaster and is partly a reason we are giving a great price on Mayweather at the moment."
