“It is my expectation it won’t happen again.”
Everton manager Marco Silva has said he is “not happy” with Jordan Pickford after the goalkeeper was allegedly involved in a fight.
Footage appearing to show Pickford involved in a fracas was widely shared on social media on Monday, prompting Everton to announce they were “looking into the matter“. Northumbria Police also confirmed they were trying to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Though it’s since been reported that Pickford was provoked after his fiancée was insulted, Silva told reporters that he was unhappy about the situation, adding that he has spoken to the England international to remind him of his responsibilities.
“If you ask me as a manager I am not happy with what happened,” he said.
“Everything we must do we already did. It is my expectation it won’t happen again.
“The first chat of the week I was clear with [Pickford]. Everything is clear in his mind about his obligations.
“The matter is finished in this moment.”
Pickford had played for Everton in their 2-0 win away at West Ham last weekend. He was reportedly given permission by the club to return to the north-east, where he is originally from, after the game.
Everton return to action by hosting Arsenal at Goodison Park on Sunday.
