Manuel Pellegrini reportedly begins Everton talks, but fans aren’t convinced

They don't want him

Tom Victor

If your team had just finished in the bottom half of the Premier League, you could surely only dream of recruiting a manager with extensive Champions League experience.

Well, that’s the theory. In practice, plenty of Everton fans have found a way to make a Premier League winning coach look like a dud, in much the same way that spoilt children might complain that their parents have bought them the wrong colour iPad for Christmas.

Manuel Pellegrini has reportedly begun discussions with the newly-monied club, who – let’s not forget – have just finished 11th in the Premier League.

That’s the same Pellegrini who managed the Villarreal team that denied Everton their best shot at Champions League football in 2005/06.

The same Pellegrini who led Real Madrid to 31 league wins in 38 league games (more than any Premier League winner ever) and took Malaga within a minute of a Champions League semi-final.

The same Pellegrini who (and this is a big one) won the Premier League in 2014!

That’s not enough for some, though, as a quick scrawl of Twitter shows.
