Manchester City will have to continue their title challenge without Sergio Aguero for a while longer as Manuel Pellegrini confirmed the Argentine is still some way off a return.

Aguero damaged his hamstring when with Argentina recently and was initially ruled out for four weeks. With the 27-year-old absent for the Manchester derby over the weekend, his manager provided an update on his injury. Manchester City v Newcastle United - Premier League “He is improving, but he has some time more to be 100 percent recovered.” Aguero is joined on the sidelines by a several other City players, meaning Pellegrini is slightly lighter on numbers ahead of the club's Capital One Cup clash with Crystal Palace. “We are trying to have a starting line-up that is the best we can have at this moment," Pellegrini added. "It’s not easy because we have so many players injured. Maybe a few players are playing a lot of games. "For our team it’s important to try to continue in the Capital One Cup and try to do it tomorrow at home."
