Manchester United reported to be lining up huge ‘take-it-or-leave-it’ bid for Eric Dier

Mourinho seems desperate to land him

Jose Mourinho is said to be pestering Ed Woodward to do the unthinkable: try and complete a big money deal for a player with absolutely no connection to Mino Raiola.

That player is Tottenham’s Eric Dier, who Mourinho reportedly sees as an ideal candidate to be United’s holding midfielder next season.

According to the Mirror, United are contemplating dropping a huge £60m bid for the England international in a final push to try and take him to Old Trafford from White Hart Lane Wembley.

As well as being linked with Dier, United were also said to have been interested in signing Nemanja Matic this summer. Although Mourinho re-signed the Serbian for Chelsea during his last stint as manager at Stamford Bridge, it now seems the 28-year-old is more likely to move to Italy with claims made over the weekend that Juventus and Internazionale are vying for his signature.

As for Dier, the opportunity to double his current salary and factors such as him being a United fan as a child have apparently contributed to the player being open to a move north . The 23-year-old is believed to prefer the midfield berth he played for Spurs before Victor Wanyama made the position his own last season.

Tottenham however, aren’t for budging and are refusing to negotiate with United. As a result, it’s now thought Ed Woodward is being urged to table one final big-money offer to see if things might change.
