Man United record a number of positive Covid tests following Norwich victory

Manchester United have recorded a number of positive Covid-19 tests among players and staff after their 1-0 win at Norwich on Saturday evening.  United have reported the cases to the Premier League and it is understood that all players tested negative before the Norwich game. A number of players tested positive before training on Sunday morning, which meant the group training could not take place as planned.

The players and staff that tested positive were sent home, with training adjusted to individual and non-contact sessions.

According to The Athletic, it is currently unclear whether United's Premier League match against Brentford on Tuesday will go ahead.

The highly-transmissible omicron variant has led to a significant rise in cases in the UK in recent weeks - with a number of football clubs facing coronavirus outbreaks.

Tottenham Hotspur's last two fixtures against Rennes in the UEFA Conference League and Brighton in the Premier League were cancelled due to a covid outbreak at the north London club. The decision was made after eight first-team players and five members of staff tested positive for covid-19. As well as this, Sheffield United's Championship match against QPR on Monday has been called off after an outbreak in the QPR camp. Related links:
