Manchester United are “bemused” by Gary Neville’s comments on Ed Woodward

The higher-ups at Gary Neville's former club are not very happy with him.

Manchester United are reportedly bemused with their ex-captain following comments made about the club's executive vice-chairman, Ed Woodward. Speaking on Monday Night Football this week, Neville explained why he wasn't encouraged by Woodward's behaviour after Sunday's defeat to Brighton & Hove Albion. Woodward looked to be angrily coming to terms with the result at the AmEx Stadium and Neville claimed that it was symptomatic of the disconnect that exists between the board and Jose Mourinho. "The CEO sat in his spot for two minutes after the game on Sunday in what I can only describe as something I don’t want to see the CEO of Manchester United do," Neville said. "At the end of the game, stand up, go and shake the opposition CEO’s hand, tell him well done and that you’ll see him later in the season, smile and be bigger than anything. "All I could see was a show of frustration, or something that could also be interpreted as another show of dissent. At the moment there is definitely angst between the club and Jose." A report in the Daily Mail states that United were none too pleased with Neville's remarks and a club source insisted that Woodward had only remained in his seat after the full-time whistle as he was waiting for the queue for the exit to die down.
