The Red Devils failed to bring in several of Jose Mourinho's top targets in the summer, a fact that the United boss is none too pleased about.
Days before it emerged that the club also intends to appoint its first ever director of football, Mourinho admitted that managers' roles had changed in the modern game.
"I had my plans for many months and I find myself with the market closed in a situation I did not think I would be in," Mourinho said after United's first game of the season. "I think football is changing and managers should be called head coaches."Explore more on these topics:
