According to The Independent, Januzaj competed in a private dual with Andreas Pereira during a game against Sunderland on January 25, in which the pair took turns attempting to score directly from corner kicks.
United staff reported the incident to Van Gaal. The Dutchman, you won't be surprised to learn, doesn't take kindly to players putting themselves before the team, and has since frozen the pair out of United's first-team.
Januzaj has only featured once in the first-team since January, as an 80th minute substitute against Arsenal in February, while Pereira has played just three minutes in the United first team since his alleged showboating antics.
