Man Utd set to sign not one but TWO new wingers on deadline day

Simon Lloyd

Quite the deadline day at Old Trafford

After being in talks with pretty much every right-sided forward under the sun at some point on transfer deadline day, Manchester United appear to have reached a deal for one. Or two. Or, hey, maybe three. Frankly, who knows any more?

Jadon Sancho isn’t arriving at Old Trafford, obviously, but according to the Manchester Evening News’ Samuel Luckhurst, they are set to get Amad Traore from Serie A side Atalanta in a matter of months.

The 18-year-old Ivorian had looked set to move to Parma until the move collapsed, opening the door for United to swoop in. A deal which will likely see him arrive in the January window will see United fork out £19m up front with a further £8.5m to be paid in add-ons.

United are also thought to be nearing a move for relatively unknown Uruguayan youngster, Facundo Pellistri. The 18-year-old is said to be costing United around £9m from Peñarol and is expected to be thrown straight into Solskjaer’s team upon arrival.

Also, on a frantic transfer deadline day at Old Trafford, United confirmed the arrival of Alex Telles from Porto, haggled with Barcelona over a potential loan deal for Ousmane Dembele before backing out, asked about Watford’s Ismaïla Sarr, inched ever closer to signing Edinson Cavani on a free, sold Chris Smalling to Roma, pissed off Sergio Romero’s wife and announced a new official fungal nail treatment partner. The last bit didn’t happen.

We need a lie down.
