Man Utd players reach out to fan after eerily accurate PSG prediction tweet

Simon Lloyd

‘Man, you should predict every game’

Manchester United won in Paris on Wednesday night. You might’ve heard.

Trailing a much-fancied Paris Saint-Germain side 2-0 after the first leg at Old Trafford, few gave Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side a prayer of reaching the Champions League quarter-finals ahead of the return at the Parc des Princes.

Despite the odds being stacked against them, United came out on top. Two first-half Romelu Lukaku goals – either side of a Juan Bernat equaliser for PSG – were followed by Marcus Rashford coolly converting a high pressure (and slightly controversial) penalty in stoppage time.

3-1 on the night; United through on away goals.

In the time since, one tweet in particular has been widely shared by United fans on social media.

Sent prior to the game in the French capital by Timmy Chin, it predicted a 3-1 win for United, with two goals scored by Lukaku and a stoppage time winner from Rashford. And yes, the timing of PSG’s goal might be slightly wrong, but the rest of it was eerily accurate…

As well as clocking close to 20,000 retweets, the tweet has also been picked up by United’s social media team and several of the players that were involved in the historic win.

Ashley Young and Victor Lindelof, both of whom started and finished the game, were amongst those to share it, as was Diogo Dalot, who replaced Eric Bailly in the first half.

Young even promised to send the supporter a signed shirt, adding that he’d get the rest of the team to sign it if he correctly predicted the result against Arsenal in this weekend’s Premier League game.
