United are actually going to win, aren’t they?

When Manchester United were drawn against Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League’s round of 16, the reaction was one of panic among United fans, while supports of rival clubs indulged in some schadenfreude. José Mourinho was still in charge at the time, and nobody could see the tie going any other way than United getting absolute spanking from the French champions.

And yet, United will be considered favourites by many going into Tuesday’s tie. Neymar is ruled out with a broken metatarsal and it looks as though PSG will be without their first choice striker Edinson Cavani too, after he was subbed off at half-time during Saturday’s game against Bordeaux.

The Uruguayan ‘tweaked something’ and Thomas Tuchel was taking no chances, deciding to replace Cavani with Kylian Mbappé.

This news will come as a huge boost to Manchester United, who have gone 11 games unbeaten under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, winning 10 of them with one slight hiccup against Burnley, when Victor Lindelof rescued a point.

PSG may now have to field a front three of Julian Draxler, Angel Di Maria, and Kylian Mbappé, which is… not bad. But they will still feel the absence of Neymar and Cavani – if the latter can’t play.
