Manchester United have launched a double bid for a Bayern Munich duo of players, a recent David Ornstein update has revealed.
Ahead of a new Premier League season, the Red Devils have already bolstered their squad with the likes of Netherlands striker Joshua Zirkzee and French young prodigy Leny Yoro.
After a promising start, Yoro was unfortunately taken off against Arsenal in a pre-season friendly.
Subsequently, he is reportedly going to miss around three months of action before returning.
Now, Erik ten Hag's men want to make a double addition from Vincent Kompany's side.
As a result, they have submitted a joint offer for Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui.
It's understood that the bid has been rejected, with Bayern requesting a higher fee.
Talks are ongoing in the hope that a deal can be secured.
Personal terms, however, are in place over 5+1 year contracts.
It has been reported that the club are looking for two to three defensive additions to bolster their ranks with Raphael Varane recently departing.
Yoro, the latest addition, made his debut against Rangers in a pre-season friendly, but as said before will face time out injured.
Following this transfer completion, attention has now been turned to Bayern's De Ligt and Mazraoui.
Bayern were seen to want £42m for the former Ajax and Juventus star, a former report revealed.
Vincent Kompany is open to the sale of the 24-year-old, which has been made categorically clear.
Additionally, De Ligt has made clear to Bayern Munich that he wants to join the English giants, as per Christian Falk.
De Ligt played under current United gaffer Erik ten Hag at Ajax in 2019, in the famous team which reached the Champions League semi-finals.
United scouted De Ligt as a teenager, however did not pursue a move in the end.
The one major factor remains though that there needs to be an agreement in the transfer valuation.
De Ligt is not the only centre back that has been of strong interest to Man United, with a bid between £45-50m for Jarrad Branthwaite formerly knocked back.
Everton are seen to value the young prodigy at between £70-80m, meaning that the clubs are far from a potential agreement.
The Red Devils want to sell mainstay Victor Lindelof due to the fact he is out of contract next year.
It is set to be a summer of change at Old Trafford.
Former England star gets run over by vehicle during match
Bizarre! Former England international Andros Townsend was involved in a mad incident during the weekend, while playing for his club in Thailand. The winger, who togged out for the likes of Spurs, Newcastle, Everton and Crystal Palace, was warming up when a pitch roller vehicle ran him over. However, despite the seriousness of the situation, […]
